about us

SAFRON Food Labelling Consulting offers complete nutrition labelling for food sold in the Canadian, U.S., Ukrainian and Russian retail markets.  Clients include food manufactures, importers, distributers, food services and other food-related industries. We also assist restaurant owners who want to disclose nutritional information to their customers so that they can make informed choices about dishes.

Our regulatory specialists have gained invaluable knowledge in compliant food labels for each element of the label. The label content elements are: product name, ingredient and allergen statements, nutrient and health claims, nutrition facts table, advertising claims, country of origin statement, special claims such as organic and gluten free, address line, net weight  and other information that a client may want to include. We are  also experts in food label art work evaluation; we will ensure that each letter, symbol, icon and their placement on the label meet regulatory requirements.

I loved science every since I was a girl. Although my parents wanted me to be a doctor, I liked my chemistry teacher and chemical equations so much that I decided to become a chemist. At university I took all the courses in chemistry that I could and earned a master’s degree.

I have never regretted my decision because it brought me to the food industry. I am fascinated by what food ingredients and additives are permitted and at what level. Why do we use them? Are they safe? Why is this food product named “Chicken Nuggets Cutlets?” Right from the beginning of my career, these were the type of questions that engaged me. I am passionate about knowing all I can about food and food labelling legislation, and I want to help food processors effectively describe their products so that consumers can make an informed choice about what they eat.

I have 25 years of experience in the food industry for Canadian and international companies, including 12 years as a Regulatory Affairs Specialist in labelling. I am a “hands-on” and “can-do” professional who has helped manufacturing and import/export businesses successfully launch new products by delivering accurate labels that comply with food regulations. I have extensive experience labelling in food categories such as bakery items, cheese, confectionaries and oil as well as processed meat, poultry and fish, which are highly regulated.

I have worked for well-known brand names including Janes, President’s Choice, No Name, Compliments and Sensations in addition to private labels put out by Walmart, Costco, Metro, Shoppers Drug Mart, and Target. I also developed labels for food service companies like Wendy's, KFC, Sysco and Tim Horton’s.

I have a master’s degree in chemistry and hold labelling certificates from both Canada and the USA.
